If you want to monetize your Blogger website and ensure the safety of your advertising actions, it's recommended to add an ads.txt file. While it's not mandatory, having the file protects both your interests and those of your ad partners. Here's how you can add an ads.txt file containing the list of authorized vendors to sell your ad inventory:
1. Obtaining the ads.txt file
- Create the file yourself or obtain it from your ad provider. Some ad networks, that offer monetization essentials that include ads.txt.
- Alternatively, you can generate the base of the file automatically from your Google AdSense or Google Ad Manager account and then add new ad vendors' data to it.
2. Adding ads.txt on Blogger
- Log in to your Blogger account and choose the blog you want to add the file to if you have multiple blogs.
- Go to the Dashboard's sidebar menu and select "Settings."
- From the list under the "Settings" option, click on "Search preferences."
- Scroll to the "Monetization" section at the bottom of the page.
- Look for the "Custom ads.txt" position, which will initially show as "[Disabled]" and "Edit."
- Click on "Edit."
- A question will appear asking, "Enable custom ads.txt content?" with options for "Yes" and "No." Select "Yes."
- A text field will be displayed where you can insert the necessary positions from the ads.txt file you created or received.
- Click the "Save changes" button.
- The text field will disappear, and you will see a "[Enabled]" sign instead.
Congratulations! Your Blogger website now has an ads.txt file. To ensure it is inserted correctly, add "/ads.txt" to your website address and check if all the positions you prepared are visible. Keep in mind that it may take a few hours for the changes to appear. Well done on completing the process!
